Brewers eye first victory of season vs. Braves

The Brewers opened up their season with three games against the hosting Reds and were outscored 23-11 in losing each matchup. It marks the first time Milwaukee has opened up a season with three consecutive losses since dropping the first six games of 2003.
Rickie Weeks continued his hot start on Sunday, belting his second game- opening homer of the series in a 12-3 setback. Ryan Braun also homered, but starter Randy Wolf yielded six runs and 10 hits in four innings to take the loss.
"When [the Reds] are locked in for three games, you can get beat," Roenicke said. "If we aren't on top of our game against a club like this, then they're going to beat us."
Roenicke will make his Miller Park debut today after replacing the fired Ken Macha in November and will hand the ball to left-hander Chris Narveson.
Narveson appeared in 37 games last year, including 28 starts, and was a solid 12-9 to finish third on the club in victories. However, the 29-year-old did pitch to a 4.99 earned run average last season as well.
Narveson has faced the Braves just once before in his career, getting a victory on July 17 after yielding two runs on six hits over six innings. He'll try to slow down Atlanta this afternoon, but the Braves are coming off an 11-2 rout of the Nationals in the rubber match of a three-game series.
Brian McCann, who is hitting .462 on the young season, had three hits and drove in four runs on Sunday, while Martin Prado also went 3-for-5 with an RBI and run scored. Tim Hudson picked up the victory, allowing a run on three hits over seven great innings while retiring the final 17 batters faced.
"They play pretty good baseball against us when we're here," Hudson said of the Nationals. "We feel good about taking two out of three."
Brandon Beachy will look to build off a solid spring when he gets the start today for the Braves, his first ever against the Brewers.
The 24-year-old started the first three games of his career late last season, going 0-2 with a 3.00 ERA. However, the right-hander posted a 0.90 ERA and 21 strikeouts in 20 innings and five appearances in Spring Training, beating out Mike Minor for the final rotation spot.
Minor, though, was added to the roster over the weekend with Jair Jurrjens landing on the 15-day disabled list due to a strained right oblique and is slated to start on Wednesday.
The Braves won five of seven over the Brewers last season, including a three- game sweep at Miller Park from May 10-12.
