Dodgers, Padres conclude series at Petco

Apr 10, 2011 - 3:10 PM (Sports Network) - After completing two games on Saturday, the Los Angeles Dodgers will try to cap a weekend sweep of the Padres this afternoon.

Hiroki Kuroda got every out but the final one to help the Dodgers take a 4-0 win last night. This game, which lasted two hours and 49 minutes, was a far cry from Friday's contest that saw 3 1/2 hours of rain delays before finally being postponed close to 2 a.m. local time. The game was finished prior to Saturday's scheduled contest with Tony Gwynn Jr. driving home the game-winning run in the 11th to give the Dodgers a 4-2 win.

Kuroda (2-0) gave up six hits and two walks with four strikeouts before leaving the game with one out in the ninth after throwing 117 pitches. Jonathan Broxton got the final out of the game to pick up his fifth save of the season.

Andre Ethier hit a solo home run and finished the game 3-for-5 with two RBI while Casey Blake drove in a run for the Dodgers, who had dropped three of four prior to the wins on Saturday. Matt Kemp went 3-for-5 and stole a career- high three bases. Jamey Carroll went 3-for-5.

Dustin Moseley (0-2) was touched for three runs -- two earned -- on eight hits with three walks over six innings of work for the Padres, who have dropped three straight and four of five.

John Ely makes his 2011 debut for the Dodgers after finishing up a rookie campaign that saw the righty go 4-10 with a 5.49 ERA in 18 starts. This will be his first action against the Padres.

The Padres counter with 32-year-old San Diego native Aaron Harang. He's set to make his second start of the season. Harang earned the win in his Padres debut on Tuesday against the Giants, working six innings of one-run ball. He has been tagged with the loss in each of his last three games against the Dodgers, all starts, and in six of his last seven, dating back to 2004.

San Diego was 10-8 against the Dodgers a year ago, but won six of the final seven matchups. The Padres had won five in a row at home in this series before the Saturday defeats.
