Rays aim for .500 mark versus White Sox

After posting just one win through the first eight games, Tampa has reeled off wins in seven of its last eight. The Rays continued to roll on Tuesday, as James Shields threw his sixth career complete game and Sean Rodriguez had a run-scoring triple, helping Tampa to a 2-1 win. Felipe Lopez knocked in the other run for the Rays, who took the opener of the series 5-0.
Shields (1-1) scattered four hits and walked one while fanning nine. He threw 105 pitches -- 76 for strikes -- and improved to 3-2 in nine career games against the White Sox.
"I just went out there and did my job," Shields said. "It's exciting. It's been a long time since I got a CG."
A.J. Pierzynski had an RBI single, while Carlos Quentin doubled and scored the lone run for the White Sox, who have dropped six straight and seven of their last eight overall.
John Danks (0-2) was the hard-luck loser for yielding two runs on seven hits over seven frames. The left-hander struck out five without issuing a walk.
Davis picked up his first win of the year his last time out on Friday against Minnesota, as he held the Twins to a run and four hits over seven innings to improve to 1-2. Davis has allowed just three runs over his last two starts to lower his ERA to 3.26.
The 25-year-old right-hander lost to the White Sox two starts ago and is 2-1 with a 3.00 ERA in three appearances against them.
Chicago, meanwhile, will counter with righty Philip Humber, who is 1-1 with a 3.46 ERA. Humber was tagged with the loss on Friday against the Angels, as he allowed four runs (two earned) and six hits in five innings.
He outdueled Davis to beat the Rays on April 9, holding them to a run and four hits in six innings.
Chicago has won five of its last nine matchups with the Rays.
