Reds, Cards start set at Busch

The Reds and Cardinals are tied atop the division standings and will meet for the first time since St. Louis won 12 of 18 matchups a season ago, including a 6-3 mark as the home team.
St. Louis has won two straight and six of eight games, and is coming off Thursday's 5-0 blanking of the Washington Nationals in the Gateway City. Kyle Lohse improved to 3-1 on the season with a two-hit shutout and six strikeouts. Lohse walked two batters in his first shutout since April 12, 2009.
"His command was really good," St. Louis manager Tony LaRussa said. "He goes out there and gives us a chance to win."
Lohse was backed by two-run homers from Albert Pujols and Matt Holliday, while David Freese drove in the other run for the Cardinals, who won the second game of a doubleheader against Washington on Wednesday to snap a two-game slide. Pujols has collected five homers and 10 RBI in his last nine games.
Kyle McClellan's promotion from the bullpen has paid off so far for La Russa and the righty will make his fourth start of the season Friday. McClellan has won back-to-back trips to the mound and is 2-0 with a 1.89 earned run average in three starts. He threw seven innings of one-run ball in a 9-2 victory at Los Angeles last Saturday.
McClellan has made 19 relief appearances against the Reds, going 0-0 with a save and a 2.95 ERA over 18 1/3 innings.
Cincinnati salvaged the finale of a three-game series versus the Arizona Diamondbacks with a 7-4 triumph on Thursday.
Reds starter Mike Leake worked seven quality innings to improve to 3-0, allowing three runs on four hits with two walks and six strikeouts. The 24- year-old made his scheduled start despite his arrest on Monday for an alleged shoplifting incident at a downtown Cincinnati Macy's department store.
"I'll be better once it's all done," Leake said about his legal situation. "Right now I just have to eat it and just go out there and do what I can for the team."
Miguel Cairo and Paul Janish each knocked in a pair of runs for the Reds, who ended a four-game losing streak and won for the second time in eight tries. Joey Votto homered in a winning effort.
Cincinnati, which will begin a six-game trek tonight in St. Louis and Milwaukee, will send Edinson Volquez to the hill this evening. Volquez is 2-0 with a 6.75 ERA in four starts and did not record a decision the previous time out on Sunday in a 7-6 loss versus Pittsburgh.
Volquez was banged around for a season-high six runs and five hits in 5 2/3 innings and struck out six batters with six walks. The right-hander has made four career starts against St. Louis, recording a 1-1 record with a 4.98 ERA.
