Colon, Cano lead Yankees past White Sox

Making just his second start in nearly two years, Colon (2-1) allowed one run on seven hits and a walk, striking out six to help the Yankees rebound from back-to-back losses in the first two games of this four-game series.
Mariano Rivera pitched a perfect ninth inning for his eighth save.
The White Sox fell to 3-11 in their last 14 games. Struggling mightily on offense, they have scored four runs or more only once during the stretch.
Frustrations boiled over before one full inning was complete.
White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen was ejected in between the top and bottom of the first for arguing with home plate umpire Todd Tichenor, who had rung up Paul Konerko on strikes for the third out.
Guillen flailed his arms and jawed at Tichenor during a histrionic display. It seemed like a misguided argument -- the pitch, although low in the zone, appeared on replays to be an easy strike.
After leaving the field, Guillen posted two messages on his Twitter feed: "This one going to cost me a lot money this is [pathetic]" and "Today a tough guy show up [at] yankee stadium."
Cano gave the Yankees a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first, lining a 1-1 pitch from Mark Buehrle (1-3) over the right field wall. Cano's sixth homer of the season scored Derek Jeter, who walked to lead off the inning, and Alex Rodriguez after he reached with a two-out single.
"It was a sinker down and in," Buehrle said about the homer he served to Cano. "I'll take that pitch any time, but he hit the sweet spot."
It was the only offense the Yankees needed.
Following up his win against Toronto last Wednesday -- it was his first start since July 24, 2009 -- Colon threw 65 of his 99 pitches for strikes. He stranded runners in scoring position in the first and second innings, then faced the minimum in the next three.
The former Cy Young Award winner, who pitched for the White Sox in 2003 and '09, has his first two wins since May 26, 2009.
"Every time he's been on the mound, he's given us a chance to win," Yankees manager Joe Girardi said of Colon. "His production has been key."
Buehrle remained winless since April 1, coming up empty on his fifth attempt at career victory No. 150. He gave up three runs on six hits and two walks, striking out five in seven innings.
The Yankees, after collecting just seven total hits in the first two games of the series, managed six in this one. Andruw Jones was the only player with more than one, hitting a pair of singles.
The White Sox had seven hits and scored their only run with three straight singles in the sixth inning. Dunn followed Carlos Quentin and Paul Konerko, driving in Quentin with a base hit to center.
