Orioles down struggling White Sox

May 1, 2011 - 6:10 AM Chicago, IL (Sports Network) - Robert Andino went 2-for-4 with a solo homer and two runs scored, as the Baltimore Orioles handled the Chicago White Sox, 6-2, in the second test of a four-game series.

Vladimir Guerrero drove in two runs for the Orioles, who won, 10-4, in the series opener on Friday. Luke Scott had an RBI.

Chris Tillman (1-2) gave up one run on six hits over five-plus innings to pick up his first win of the season for Baltimore.

"There's a lot of things I need to get better on," Tillman said. "I threw strikes with my offspeed pitches. I felt like I should have gone [offspeed] a little more tonight."

Alex Rios hit a solo homer and drove in two runs for the White Sox, who set a franchise record with 18 losses in the month of April (10-18). The previous mark was held by the 1997 club (8-17).

Phil Humber (2-3) allowed two runs on three hits over a seven-inning start to take the hard-luck loss. He also struck out five and walked one for Chicago, which has lost six in a row at home.

The White Sox, who have lost four straight, played without manager Ozzie Guillen for a second straight game. Guillen served the second of a two-game suspension for his actions during Wednesday's game against the New York Yankees.

The Orioles got on the board in the first inning. Brian Roberts led off with a double and later scored on a wild pitch.

Andino led off the third with his first homer of the season for a 2-0 Baltimore lead.

"I wish I could take one pitch back," Humber said. "Andino hit kind of a hanging fastball there. Other than that, I think I threw the ball pretty good."

The White Sox put men on first and third with two outs in the home third, but Carlos Quentin popped out.

Chicago finally got to Tillman in the sixth. Alexei Ramirez and Quentin hit consecutive singles before Paul Konerko walked to load the bases. Mike Gonzalez came in from the bullpen and struck out Adam Dunn. Rios followed with a sacrifice fly to center. Ramirez scored on the play because catcher Jake Fox dropped the ball. A.J. Pierzynski went down swinging to keep it 2-1.

The Orioles broke the game open with a four-run eighth. Matt Thornton started the inning on the mound. Andino singled and stole second. Roberts struck out, but made it to first on a passed ball. On the play, Andino crossed the plate on catcher Pierzynski's throwing error. Nick Markakis singled and Derrek Lee walked to load the bases. Guerrero's two-run single and Scott's sac fly chased Thornton from the game. Jeff Gray got the White Sox out of the inning, but not before Baltimore took a 6-1 margin.

Rios hit a solo homer to left in the ninth off Koji Uehara to account for the final margin.
