Royals, Orioles resume series in KC

May 4, 2011 - 2:52 PM (Sports Network) - The Kansas City Royals take aim at their sixth straight home win this evening when they continue a three-game set with the Baltimore Orioles at Kauffman Stadium.

The Royals drew first blood in this series on Tuesday, as Jeff Francoeur's sacrifice fly drove in the winning run in the bottom of the 10th inning, lifting Kansas City to a 6-5 win.

Francoeur also had a solo home run while Wilson Betemit and Melky Cabrera each had a pair of hits for the Royals, who have won four straight overall after losing six in a row. KC hasn't won five in a row since Sept. 7-11, 2009.

Tim Collins (2-1) got the win throwing the last out in the top of the 10th

Adam Jones went 3-for-4 and Luke Scott belted a three-run homer for Baltimore, which has dropped two straight on the heels of a three-game win streak.

Jason Berken (0-2) was tagged with the loss, giving up Francoeur's game- winning run.

Hoping to keep the Royals rolling tonight will be right-hander Kyle Davies, who is 1-3 with a 7.98. Davies was hammered on Thursday in Cleveland for eight runs and nine hits in 3 1/3 innings.

Davies has faced the Orioles five times and is 1-3 against them with a 6.28 ERA.

Baltimore, meanwhile, will counter with righty Jake Arrieta, who has won his last two decisions. Arrieta beat the Chicago White Sox on Friday, holding them to three runs and five hits in five innings, as he improved to 3-1 to go along with a 5.01 ERA.

Arrieta, who has been battling a sore hip, did not get a decision the only other time he faced the Royals, surrendering three runs and walking five batters in 4 1/3 frames.

Kansas City won four of its six matchups with the O's last season, including three of the four meetings at Kauffman Stadium.
