Hudson goes the distance, Braves blank Brewers

May 5, 2011 - 4:23 AM Atlanta, GA (Sports Network) - Tim Hudson tossed a one-hit, complete game shutout as the Braves defeated the Brewers, 8-0, in the second game of a double-header.

Hudson (4-2) struck out six and walked one in his 24th complete game and the 12th shutout of his career.

"I felt really good. I felt good in the pen coming in. I was just hoping it would translate out there on the mound and it did. Just pumping strikes with good stuff. I felt like I had good action on stuff," said Hudson.

Nate McLouth went deep and Freddie Freeman and Eric Hinske added two RBI apiece to give Atlanta its fourth straight win.

Zack Greinke (0-1) took the loss in his first appearance of the season after spending time on the disabled list with a broken left rib. Greinke lasted four innings and allowed five runs -- four earned -- on five hits and one walk while fanning six to give the Brewers their fifth consecutive loss.

"I pitched decent, but I had two really bad at-bats that kind of made it look alot worse...The bat to Hinske, got behind on him and then got behind on McClouth," said Greinke of his performance. "Then I made bad pitches when I got behind. Those two at-bats were really bad, but besides that I pitched alright."

Alex Gonzalez reached base on a fielding error by Milwaukee's Prince Fielder and Jason Heyward struck out, but was given first on catcher`s interference before Dan Uggla singled to bring Gonzalez home in the first.

Atlanta added another run in the second on a Martin Prado single that scored McLouth. McLouth worked a one-out walk and moved to second on a Hudson bunt.

Hinske hit an RBI double in the fourth and McLouth followed with a two-run homer to make it 5-0.

Hinske's sacrifice fly in the fifth gave the Braves a six-run advantage, and Freeman added a two-run single in the eighth to complete the rout.

Rickie Weeks' leadoff double in the fourth accounted for the lone Milwaukee hit.
