Phillies win series finale over Marlins

May 12, 2011 - 4:49 AM Miami, FL (Sports Network) - Jimmy Rollins' two-run single in the ninth staked the Philadelphia Phillies to a 5-3 win over the Florida Marlins in the finale of a three-game set.

Pete Orr and Ross Gload each had a pinch-hit, RBI double in the seventh while Shane Victorino extended his hitting streak to 14 games with a solo home run in the eighth for the Phillies, who took two of three in the set.

"I thought we stuck with it and grinded out a win," said Orr. It really didn't look like we were going to win until the end there. It was a fun game today."

Cliff Lee, coming off a 16-strikeout loss last Friday to the Braves, went six innings and gave up three runs on seven hits with four strikeouts. Kyle Kendrick (3-2) got the win for throwing a scoreless eighth.

Hanley Ramirez hit a solo home run and scored twice while John Buck and Mike Stanton each drove in a run for the Marlins, who have lost five of seven.

"They ended up winning the game and tomorrow is another day," said Ramirez. "That's the good thing about this sport, you don't get much time to dwell on a loss."

Ricky Nolasco was tagged for two runs -- one earned -- on five hits with a pair of walks and six strikeouts over 6 1/3 innings. Leo Nunez (0-1) was handed the loss.

Trailing by a score of 3-0, the Phils began their comeback in the seventh inning.

Raul Ibanez led off with a double to right and later moved to third when Dane Sardinha hit a grounder to first that Marlins first baseman Gaby Sanchez misplayed. Orr followed with a double that scored a run and, after Ryan Webb took the mound, Gload hit a double to make it a 3-2 game.

Victorino tied the game in the eighth when he led off the frame with a line-drive shot over the left-field wall, his sixth home run of the season.

Kendrick worked out of a two-on, one-out jam in the eighth when he induced an inning-ending double play from Buck and the visitors went ahead in the ninth.

With Nunez on the hill, Sardinha hit a one-out bloop single to center and Orr followed with a double. After pinch-hitter John Mayberry struck out, Rollins hit a single to right that scored two for a 5-3 lead.

Ryan Madson then set the Marlins down in order in the ninth to pick up his fifth save of the season.

Florida got the scoring started in the first inning when Ramirez clubbed a 1-1 pitch that just went over the wall in left-center.

The Phillies, who were held hitless until the fourth inning, threatened in the fifth. With one out, Brian Schneider doubled and, after Wilson Valdez struck out, Lee punched a single to center. Schneider made the turn around third, but came up grabbing his right thigh and hopped back to the base.

He was replaced on the basepath by Sardinha and Rollins grounded out to end the frame.

The Marlins padded their lead in the sixth with a pair of runs. Three straight singles with one out loaded the bases, and Buck followed with a base hit to score Emilio Bonifacio. Stanton then hit a sacrifice fly to score Ramirez for a 3-0 lead.
