Marlins activate RHP Nolasco from disabled list

May 1, 2007 - 8:11 PM NEW YORK (Ticker) -- The Florida Marlins activated Ricky Nolasco from the 15-day disabled list and will start the righthander in Tuesday night's game against the New York Mets.

Nolasco had been on the DL since April 7 with right elbow inflammation.

The 24-year-old started one game for the Marlins this season, allowing three runs and three hits in 1 1/3 innings in an 8-2 loss to the Philadelphia Phillies on April 6.

As a rookie with the Marlins last season, Nolasco appeared in 35 games - 22 starts - and went 11-11 with a 4.82 ERA.

Nolasco didn't have much success against the Mets last year. In four appearances, including three starts, Nolasco went 0-3 with a 19.73 ERA. He allowed nine earned runs over 1 2/3 innings in his only start at Shea Stadium.

The Marlins designated righthander Nate Field for assignment to make room on the roster for Nolasco. In one relief appearance this season, Field allowed three runs in one inning.
