Juan Miranda capped off a three-run eighth with an RBI single for the Diamondbacks, who have won six in a row. Chris Young also drove in a run.
Josh Collmenter gave up two runs on four hits over a six-inning start for Arizona, which went 6-1 on a seven-game road trip. Aaron Heilman (4-0) pitched one scoreless inning of relief to pick up the win.
Houston starter J.A. Happ allowed one run on two hits over six full frames. Happ also hit his first career home run for the Astros, who went 2-4 on a six- game homestand.
The Astros broke a scoreless tie in the fourth. Jeff Keppinger led off with a double, moved to third on Hunter Pence's single and scored on Collmenter's balk. Diamondbacks manager Kirk Gibson was ejected by home plate umpire D.J. Reyburn for arguing the call. Arizona escaped the inning with just the one run scored.
Happ added to Houston's margin with a solo shot to right in the fifth.
The Diamondbacks started to chip away at their deficit in the sixth. Justin Upton led off with a triple to center and crossed the plate on Young's sacrifice fly.
Arizona used a three-run eighth to take the lead. Jeff Fulchino (1-3) started the inning on the mound for Houston. Ryan Roberts singled and stole second before Young was intentionally walked with two outs. Nady then hit a two-run double to right. Sergio Escalona was called in from the bullpen, but Miranda greeted him with an RBI single for a 4-2 Arizona lead.
The Astros stranded men on second and third in the home eighth. David Hernandez walked Keppinger with one out, then gave up a single to Pence. Runners were on the corners after Carlos Lee grounded into a fielder's choice. Lee moved to second on a wild pitch, but Brett Wallace went down swinging to end the threat.
J.J. Putz tossed a perfect ninth for his 16th save of the year.
