A much-heralded 19-game winner in 2010, Jimenez slumped badly to begin his follow-up season and was 1-7 overall after a 10-8 loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers in Denver on June 12.
He's thrived in a pair of interleague encounters since, however, winning both while allowing five runs on 12 hits in 12 innings against Detroit and the New York Yankees.
The defeat of the Tigers was his initial home win in eight starts, which has seen him allow 38 runs on 61 hits in just 42 innings.
Jimenez has never faced the White Sox.
Colorado remained on the fringe of contention in the National League's West Division with a win in Tuesday's series opener when Ty Wigginton's bloop single to center with two outs in the bottom of the 13th inning scored Troy Tulowitzki from first in a 3-2 win.
The Rockies are third in the division, 6 1/2 games behind first-place San Francisco.
The hit made a winner of Rex Brothers (1-0), who turned in a scoreless top of the 13th. The Rockies posted their first walkoff win of the season and their first extra-inning victory this year.
Seth Smith paced Colorado's offense with two runs batted in.
Will Ohman (0-1) gave up the game-winning hit over his 1 1/3 relief frames.
Alexei Ramirez homered and Juan Pierre drove in the other run for the White Sox, who have lost three of four.
Chicago, which is five games behind Detroit in the AL Central, sends veteran Mark Buehrle to the mound in search of his sixth win in eight decisions.
The 32-year-old was 1-3 after a 3-1 loss at Yankee Stadium at the end of April but has thrived since, defeating Baltimore, Oakland, the Dodgers, Detroit and Minnesota while trimming his earned run average from 5.12 to 3.73.
Buehrle got a no-decision in a June 21 interleague start against the crosstown Chicago Cubs after allowing two runs on five hits in 5 1/3 innings.
The White Sox won the game, 3-2, and are 9-6 in his 15 starts.
The White Sox swept a three-game set in the last meeting at Coors Field back in 2005, but the Rockies countered by winning two of three in Chicago in '08.
