Lowe lifts Braves over Rockies

Jul 6, 2011 - 2:11 AM Atlanta, GA (Sports Network) - Derek Lowe was solid on the mound and at the plate, pitching 5 1/3 solid frames and driving in three runs, as Atlanta continued its hot play with a 5-3 victory over Colorado in the continuation of a four-game set at Turner Field.

Dan Uggla hit a solo home run and scored twice, while Freddie Freeman also homered for the Braves, who have won seven of eight games overall. Lowe (5-6) gave up three runs on five hits with four strikeouts and three walks, leaving the game in the good hands of the bullpen. Craig Kimbrel notched his 26th save, tying Boston's Jonathan Papelbon for the rookie record prior to the All- Star Break.

Jhoulys Chacin (8-6) allowed four runs on four hits while battling control problems in the loss. His six walks racked up his pitch count and put the visitors in an early hole. Mark Ellis had three hits in the loss, Colorado's fifth straight on the road.
