Diamondbacks bolt to big lead, top Brewers

Jul 6, 2011 - 4:18 AM Milwaukee, WI (Sports Network) - Gerardo Parra went 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBI and Justin Upton added a pair of hits, including a homer, as the Arizona Diamondbacks breezed to a 7-3 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers.

The Diamondbacks, who won the opener of this three-game set in comeback fashion on Monday, received a two-run single from Miguel Montero in a four-run first inning.

Zach Duke (2-3) allowed just two runs on five hits and a pair of walks over seven innings to break a personal six-game losing streak at Miller Park.

Randy Wolf (6-6) lasted six innings, but surrendered a season-high seven runs on 10 hits and four walks, as the Brewers dropped their third straight.

"It was one of those games where the way I felt didn't match the results," said Wolf. "I felt good on the mound, but obviously, the results weren't good at all."

Corey Hart belted his second homer in as many games and Prince Fielder added a solo shot and an RBI single.

It marked the first time this season that the Brewers -- losers of seven of their last eight -- have dropped consecutive games at home.

The Diamondbacks picked up where they left off Monday night, loading the bases with one down in the first, before Montero's single to right plated Kelly Johnson and Upton.

"He was very patient," Diamondbacks manager Kirk Gibson said of Montero. "He's learning. He's got enough talent to be an All-Star and hit .300."

Xavier Nady then brought home Chris Young with a groundout and Parra followed with a single to center to plate Montero, giving Arizona a healthy 4-0 lead.

Fielder got the Brewers on the board in unconventional style a half inning later, bringing Rickie Weeks home from third on a high-chopping infield single to the right side.

Upton extended the Diamondbacks' advantage with an emphatic leadoff blast in the third.

Later in the frame, with two down, Nady singled to right and Parra made it a 7-1 lead with a blast to right-center.

With two down in the sixth, Fielder connected on his 22nd homer of the season -- a deep shot into the upper deck in right.

Hart's homer came in the eighth and made it a 7-3 game.

Later in the inning, with two down, Mark Kotsay singled and Casey McGehee walked, but pinch-hitter Craig Counsell tapped a weak grounder back to pitcher Aaron Heilman to end the threat.

A Weeks walk and a Nyjer Morgan single placed runners at first and second with two down in the ninth, but David Hernandez entered and induced Hart into a game-ending groundout to earn his fifth save of the season.

In all, the Brewers went 2-for-8 with runners in scoring position and stranded six.
