Dodgers recall INF LaRoche, place INF Anderson on DL

May 6, 2007 - 4:58 PM ATLANTA (Ticker) -- Andy LaRoche will kick-start his major league career on his brother's old stomping grounds.

The Los Angeles Dodgers recalled third base prospect Andy LaRoche from Class AAA Las Vegas prior to Sunday's game at the Atlanta Braves.

A spot on the roster opened up for LaRoche as infielder-outfielder Marlon Anderson was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a sore right elbow, retroactive to Saturday.

LaRoche, 23, is in the lineup at third base for the finale of the three-game series with the Braves, the team his brother - first baseman Adam LaRoche - played for three seasons before being traded to the Pittsburgh Pirates in the offseason.

Rated as the Dodgers' top prospect by Baseball America, LaRoche was hitting .235 with three home runs and 11 RBI in 24 games with Las Vegas. He hit .319 with 81 RBI in 117 games between Class AAA and AA last year.

Primarily a backup, Anderson hit .222 with three runs scored in 18 games with Los Angeles.
