Hudson has faced Arizona seven times over the course of his career and has yet to lose, going 5-0 with a sparkling 1.54 earned run average.
The veteran right-hander did not get a decision on Monday against San Francisco, as he allowed four runs (two earned) and five hits in eight innings of a 5-4 win. He had been 3-0 in his previous three starts.
Hudson, though, maintained his unblemished mark in August over the last two seasons. He is 6-0 with a 1.82 ERA in the month since last season. Hudson is also an impressive 10-0 with a 2.07 ERA in 15 day games this season.
After winning Friday's opener, Atlanta rolled again on Saturday, as Dan Uggla smacked a pair of home runs and had three RBI to lead the Braves to an 8-1 victory. Michael Bourn tacked on two hits, scored twice, and made a spectacular catch against the wall for the National League wild card leaders, who have won three straight and five of their last six contests.
Brandon Beachy (6-2) fanned seven batters over six innings and now has a six- game unbeaten streak. He's 3-0 in that stretch and hasn't lost since July 19 at Colorado.
Wade Miley (0-1) was charged with the loss in his big league debut and gave up seven hits and five runs in four-plus innings. He also recorded his first hit, a single in the fifth inning.
"I wanted to go out and give the team a better chance to win, but I have to put it behind me and move on, work on some things," Miley said.
Miguel Montero knocked in the only run for the NL West-leading Diamondbacks, who have lost four in a row. Despite the slide, Arizona remains 2 1/2 games ahead of second-place San Francisco.
Arizona will counter with righty Josh Collmenter, who is 7-7 with a 3.47 ERA. Collmenter did not get a decision on Tuesday in Philadelphia, as he surrendered two runs and eight hits in 6 2/3 innings of a 3-2 win.
Collmenter tossed six scoreless innings to beat the Braves back on May 19 in his only other start against them.
