Quintana helps White Sox sweep Rangers
Jul 5, 2012 - 10:21 PMVideo
Quintana (4-1) surrendered just one run on two hits and a walk.
"He's not really throwing the ball by you, but it's just tough to really see it and square it up," Rangers first baseman Brandon Snyder said about Quintana. "You have got to give him props. They guy went out there, battled and threw a good ballgame."
Kevin Youkilis homered and scored twice while Addison Reed tossed a scoreless ninth to record his 12th save of the year for Chicago, which won for the seventh time in nine games.
Matt Harrison (11-4) gave up two runs on eight hits and two walks over eight innings for his first loss since May 12, snapping a seven-decision win streak. It was his second complete game of the season.
Adrian Beltre knocked in the lone run for the Rangers, who have lost four in a row.
Texas broke the scoreless tie in the fourth inning when Ian Kinsler led off the frame with a walk, advanced to second on an Elvis Andrus ground out and crossed the plate on Beltre's hit back to the mound that deflected off the leg of Quintana and into right field.
But Chicago answered in the bottom of the fourth after loading the bases with one out on a walk by Youkilis and consecutive singles by Paul Konerko and Alex Rios.
Alexei Ramirez followed with a grounder to third to plate Youkilis before a Dayan Viciedo walk filled the bags again, but Harrison fanned Tyler Flowers to end the inning and keep it a 1-1 game.
Neither team would record a hit from there until Youkilis led off the home sixth with a blast into the seats in right field for the deciding run.
"You want to have good hits all of the time, but sometimes it works where it's a clutch hit," Youkilis said about his home run.
Quintana, meanwhile, faced the minimum over his final four innings on the mound before Reed struck out two over a perfect ninth to close out the game for the White Sox.
