D-Backs LHP Johnson throws on side Monday

Jun 26, 2007 - 6:48 AM PHOENIX (Ticker) -- Arizona Diamondbacks lefthander Randy Johnson threw 41 pitches in a simulated game on Monday.

The 43-year-old threw 19 pitches, took a break and threw 22 more.

Depending on how his arm feels on Tuesday, Johnson could pitch Thursday against the Los Angeles Dodgers, pushing back Livan Hernandez and Doug Davis one day each.

"Everyting was there," Arizona manager Bob Melvin said. "If he feels OK Tuesday we will set a date. It all depends on how he feels. I was surprised how well he threw.

"We would like to get him behind (Brandon Webb)."
