Davis, Jones head rally as O's top Blue Jays
Apr 25, 2014 - 6:59 AM Toronto, ON (SportsNetwork.com) - Chris Davis' two-run single highlighted a five-run seventh inning and helped the Baltimore Orioles rally to an 11-4 win over the Toronto Blue Jays to take the rubber match of a three-game set from Rogers Centre.Baltimore trailed 3-2 heading into the seventh inning. With one away, David Lough started the surge with a double to right. Nick Markakis then walked, both runners stole a bag and Nelson Cruz was intentionally walked to load the bases for Davis, who made Brett Cecil (0-1) pay for the decision with an opposite field slap to left. Adam Jones followed with an RBI double to center and Matt Wieters singled in two more runs.
The Orioles tacked on four more runs in the eighth to turn it into a rout.
Davis and Jones both drove in three runs for Baltimore, which capped its seven-game road trip with a 4-3 mark to move above .500 (11-10). Jonathan Schoop homered, Cruz drove in a pair and scored twice and Lough had three hits, three runs scored and two steals batting in the nine hole.
Bud Norris (1-2) went six innings for Baltimore, allowing three runs on five hits to earn his first win of the season.
Dioner Navarro and Colby Rasmus homered for Toronto in defeat.
Navarro opened the scoring with a towering homer to right-center field to start the second inning. Juan Francisco then singled and after Brett Lawrie struck out swinging, Rasmus went yard for a 3-0 Toronto lead.
"It's challenging not to panic when you're down 3-0 against such a lethal offensive team," Baltimore manager Buck Showalter said. "But Bud kind of settled in and guys kept working good at-bats and passing it to the next guy."
Baltimore got a pair back in the fifth. Schoop led off the frame with a solo shot out to left. After Lough walked and stole second, Drew Hutchison retired the next two batters he faced but Davis singled to left, plating Lough to cut the deficit to a run.
Hutchison was tagged for two runs on six hits while striking out nine in six innings of work for the Jays.
"I felt good," Hutchison said. "I felt like I competed well and was very pleased with how I performed."
