Mets, D'backs square off at Citi Field

May 24, 2014 - 1:28 PM (SportsNetwork.com) - Arizona's Josh Collmenter is unbeaten in his last five starts. New York Mets right-hander Zack Wheeler is headed in the opposite direction, having posted his only victory on April 14.

That win came against Collmenter.

The two hurlers are ready for a rematch Saturday afternoon at Citi Field.

Friday's game between these two clubs was rained out and will be made up as part of a doubleheader Sunday.

Collmenter, who is 2-0 with 3.72 ERA during his unbeaten streak, is coming off a win Sunday against the Dodgers when he lasted 5 1/3 innings. He has failed pitch at least six frames in each of his last three appearances, but hasn't lost since April 20 at Dodger Stadium.

In seven career games (2 starts) against the Mets, Collmenter is 1-2 with 4.91 ERA. He pitched four innings and allowed three runs on five hits with three strikeouts in that April 14 encounter.

Wheeler, who allowed two runs over 6 1/3 frames of that 7-3 triumph at Chase Field, is 0-2 over his previous six appearances. He took the loss Sunday at Washington. Wheeler has won both of his career starts versus Arizona and has a 2.13 ERA against the Diamondbacks.

Pitching at home hasn't proven positive in Wheeler's career. He's 2-5 with a 4.38 ERA in 11 all-time starts at Citi Field.

Arizona's Aaron Hill hit a two-run homer in the second inning to give the Diamondbacks a 2-0 lead before rain forced a delay of over two hours in the bottom of the fourth.

New York starter Bartolo Colon served up Hill's homer, while Chase Anderson allowed just one hit and a walk in the start for Arizona.

New York has won five straight against Arizona while getting a combined 2.05 ERA from its starting staff. The Mets swept a three-game series at Chase Field in mid-April.
