Padres claim INF Rodriguez

Oct 4, 2007 - 10:46 PM SAN DIEGO (Ticker) -- The San Diego Padres on Thursday claimed infielder Luis Rodriguez off waivers from the Minnesota Twins.

Rodriguez, 27, hit .219 with two home runs and 12 RBI in 68 games with the Twins this season. He served as a utility infielder - making starts at first, second and third base.

The switch-hitting Rodriguez has six home runs, 38 RBI and 50 runs scored in 206 career games in parts of three seasons in Minnesota.

In another move, the Padres released outfielder Brady Clark, who was signed to a minor-league contract on August 16 and recalled from Class AAA Portland on September 1.

He hit .262 with 11 RBI in 68 games with the Padres and Los Angeles Dodgers this season. The 34-year-old Clark has hit .278 with 36 homers and 209 RBI in eight campaigns with five teams.
