Indians down Rangers

May 16, 2015 - 6:36 AM Arlington, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - Nick Swisher finished 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles and three RBI as the Cleveland Indians rallied from an early deficit to down the Texas Rangers 8-3 on Friday.

Michael Brantley contributed three hits, drove in two and scored twice for the Indians, while Brett Hayes homered and Lonnie Chisenhall also knocked in a run.

Ryan Webb (1-0) tossed two scoreless innings in relief and fanned two after starter Bruce Chen only lasted 2 1/3 frames, during which he allowed three runs on seven hits.

Prince Fielder clubbed a two-run homer for the Rangers and Adrian Beltre added a solo shot, the 400th homer of his career. Delino DeShields and Kyle Blanks each posted two hits in the setback.

"It was nice from the fans to acknowledge it," Beltre said of his milestone marker. "It would've felt a lot better if we had won the game."

Wandy Rodriguez (1-2) was responsible for five runs on eight hits over 4 2/3 innings in defeat.

Zach Walters singled home Swisher in the fourth to tie the game at 3-3 before Cleveland scored five runs over the next two innings to take control for good.

Jason Kipnis singled and Brantley walked to put two on with one out in the fifth and both moved up on a groundout before scoring on Swisher's single to right for a 5-3 edge.

"It's a very contagious lineup," said Kipnis. "When a couple of guys start getting hits, guys can take some pressure of themselves."

Hayes led off the sixth with a solo homer, Jose Ramirez was plunked and Kipnis singled. Carlos Santana fanned and Sam Freeman came on, only to serve up an RBI double to Brantley and a sacrifice fly to Chisenhall for an 8-3 score.

Scott Atchison, Bryan Shaw and Cody Allen combined to hold the hosts scoreless from there.

Swisher and Brantley posted RBI doubles to give the Tribe a 2-0 lead in their first at-bat, before the Rangers struck back with three in the home half.

Elvis Andrus singled with one out, then Fielder hit his homer to right-center and Beltre followed by clearing the wall in center for a 3-2 game.
