Phillies top Rockies for 6th straight win

May 19, 2015 - 5:51 AM Denver, CO (SportsNetwork.com) - Odubel Herrera drove in two runs with a double in the sixth inning, helping the Philadelphia Phillies continue their recent winning ways with a 4-3 victory over the Colorado Rockies in the opener of a four-game set on Monday.

Ben Revere went 3-for-4 with a walk and run scored, while Ryan Howard and Carlos Ruiz each brought in a run for the Phillies, who extended their season- best winning streak to six games.

"We're putting in the work," Phillies manager Ryne Sandberg said. "Everyone's doing their part."

Philadelphia has won six straight for the first time since a seven-game stretch from Sept. 5-12, 2012.

Cole Hamels (4-3) surrendered just one run on six hits and a walk with seven strikeouts over 7 1/3 frames to win his third straight start.

Charlie Blackmon, D.J. LeMahieu and Carlos Gonzalez each drove in a run for the Rockies, who have dropped their last two games.

Jordan Lyles (2-4), who exited his last start after getting struck in the hand by an Albert Pujols line drive, was tagged with the loss after allowing four runs on seven hits and two walks in six innings.

The Phillies reclaimed the lead in the sixth. Maikel Franco singled with two outs and Chase Utley walked before Herrera's double to deep right plated both runners. Herrera moved up to third on the throw home and scored on Ruiz's bloop single to right for a 4-1 advantage.

Luis Garcia relieved Hamels with one out in the eighth. Nolan Arenado singled, Troy Tulowitzki reached on Franco's fielding error, and Gonzalez made it a two-run game with a line-drive single to right.

After striking out Drew Stubbs to start the ninth, Jonathan Papelbon gave up a triple to LeMahieu. Corey Dickerson struck out on a foul tip, but Blackmon's liner to right landed for an RBI single and a 4-3 game.

Papelbon recovered to fan Arenado for his 10th save of the season.

"We can leave the ballpark knowing we gave a good effort," Arenado said.

Revere led off the game with a single and Freddy Galvis followed by reaching on a fielding error. Revere moved to the third on Grady Sizemore's line out and trotted home on Howard's ground ball single to right.

In the home second, Wilin Rosario tied the game by hitting a leadoff single, stealing second, moving to third on a groundout and coming home on LeMahieu's base hit to right.
