Braves eye another win over hapless Brewers

May 22, 2015 - 2:48 PM (SportsNetwork.com) - The Atlanta Braves hope to keep the bats going when they resume a four-game series versus the Milwaukee Brewers at Turner Field.

The Braves pounded the Brewers 10-1 on Thursday and broke a 1-1 tie with a seven-run seventh inning. Cameron Maybin, Freddie Freeman and Nick Markakis had two RBI apiece and Christian Bethancourt finished 3-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored.

Julio Teheran struck out eight batters in seven innings of work, allowing just one run and two hits to push his mark to 4-1.

"I've been working to get back on track and it showed today that I've been working really good, trying to get my fastball, trying to get all my pitches for strikes and that's something that will get some wins for us," Teheran said.

Atlanta has won five of its last six games and will send Alex Wood to the mound Friday. Wood is 2-2 with a 3.83 earned run average in eight starts and was solid in Saturday's 5-3 win at Miami, tossing seven innings and allowing two runs, one of which was earned.

Wood has faced Milwaukee five times (1 start) in his career and is 2-0 with a 0.87 ERA. Wood is 0-2 in three home starts and the Braves are just 2-6 when the left-hander takes the mound.

The Brewers have lost six of their last nine games and fell to 3-4 on a 10- game road trip with Thursday's lopsided loss.

Matt Garza gave up four runs in 6 1/3 innings, while Gerardo Parra and Adam Lind provided the two hits for the Brewers.

"We're going to try to beat them the next three days," Brewers manager Craig Counsell said. "That's the best retaliation."

Wily Peralta draws the start for Counsell's club Friday and is only 1-5 with a 4.32 earned run average in eight starts. Peralta struggled in his last start against the New York Mets on Sunday and permitted five runs and nine hits in five innings of a 5-1 loss.

Peralta is 0-3 in his three road assignments and 1-1 with a 1.50 ERA in three career starts against the Braves.

The Braves won five of their seven meetings with the Brewers last season, taking three of four at home.
