Colabello's HR in 9th lifts Blue Jays past Twins
May 30, 2015 - 3:51 AM Minneapolis, MN (SportsNetwork.com) - Chris Colabello's go-ahead, two-run homer in the top of the ninth inning lifted the Toronto Blue Jays to a 6-4 win over the Minnesota Twins in the opener of a three-game set.Russell Martin walked to begin the frame against Glen Perkins (0-1) and Colabello golfed a low fastball over the heart of the plate into the Blue Jays bullpen in left to give Toronto its two-run advantage.
Mark Buehrle (6-4) spun the 31st complete game of his career and second of the season, settling down after allowing four first-inning runs. He allowed five of his six hits in the opening frame.
Josh Donalson smacked a three-run shot among his two hits and Kevin Pillar posted two hits and a pair of runs scored for the Blue Jays, who have won four of their last five games.
Twins starter Trevor May surrendered four runs on eight hits and a walk over six frames in a no-decision for Minnesota, which had its five-game winning streak snapped.
"They got five runs on two swings and we couldn't add on (after the four runs)," Minnesota manager Paul Molitor said.
The Twins began the scoring with their four-run first, but Toronto plated a run in the second and three more in the fifth to tie it.
Brian Dozier led off the first with a double and consecutive singles by Shane Robinson and Joe Mauer brought home Dozier. After Trevor Plouffe popped out, Robinson scored on Torii Hunter's two-bagger to center, Kurt Suzuki's infield single plated Mauer and Eduardo Escobar's sacrifice fly brought home Hunter.
Toronto got a run back on Jose Reyes' RBI double.
Pillar and Reyes sandwiched singles around a Ryan Goins strikeout before Donaldson smashed his three-run blast to center.
