Final/12
Indians down Mariners in 12
Jun 1, 2015 - 1:02 AM Seattle, WA (SportsNetwork.com) - David Murphy's two-run single highlighted a three-run top of the 12th inning and the Cleveland Indians outlasted the Seattle Mariners 6-3 to win the finale of a four-game series from Safeco Field.Dominic Leone (0-4) issued three walks in the decisive inning, including a four-pitch walk to Michael Brantley with the bases loaded and two outs. That put the Indians in front, and Murphy padded the lead with his drive to right field that plated Jose Ramirez and Jason Kipnis.
Zach McAllister (1-2) pitched out of a jam in the bottom of the 11th to pick up the win, and Austin Adams nailed down his first save in the bottom of the 12th.
Brandon Moss had four hits for the Tribe, who picked up a 18 as a team but finished just 2-for-15 with runners in scoring position and stranded 17. Ryan Raburn, who Murphy replaced in right field in the seventh inning, homered earlier in the contest.
Danny Salazer started for Cleveland and allowed three runs on four hits and four walks in 5 1/3 frames. His counterpart J.A. Happ was responsible for two runs on eight hits over five innings.
Seth Smith nearly ended it for Seattle in the bottom of the 10th with a drive to right with two outs. The ball appeared to be heading for the bleachers, but Murphy jumped up and got his glove on it to keep it in play. It went for a double, and Robinson Cano grounded back to the mound to end the inning.
Seattle did all of its damage in the fifth inning. With two on and no outs, Dustin Ackley reached on a bunt single to third. Logan Morrison scored on the play after Mike Aviles' throw to first went for an error.
Austin Jackson followed with an RBI single and Cano plated Ackley with a sacrifice fly to left.
Cleveland got two back a half-inning later. Raburn led off with a solo homer and Moss singled to chase Happ from the game. Michael Bourn singled off Tom Wilhelmsen to score Moss and make it 3-2.
Carson Smith, who finished the seventh inning, yielded singles to Lonnie Chisenhall and Bourn in the eighth. Joe Beimel came on to face lefty Jason Kipnis, who tied the game with a sacrifice fly.
