Wacha aims for win No. 10

Jun 21, 2015 - 11:31 AM (SportsNetwork.com) - Michael Wacha aims for his 10th win of the season and carries an impressive road mark into Sunday's game in Philadelphia when the Cardinals try to complete a three-game sweep.

It's been a blowout of a series thus far with the Cardinals winning both games by a combined score of 22-5.

Wacha, who is 6-1 with a 2.08 ERA in eight road starts in 2015, is coming off a 3-2 home win over Minnesota Tuesday. The righty has logged 20 strikeouts against just two walks over his last three starts.

Wacha will make his second start versus Philadelphia. He allowed four runs in 5 2/3 innings on April 28 and earned the win in an 11-4 final.

Phillies starting pitchers have not earned a win since May 23 at Washington, a span of 25 contests. That's two more than the previous franchise record of 23 games set from July 29 to August 20, 1961. During the current skid, Phillies starters are 0-16.

Adam Morgan will try to break that streak when the 25-year-old left-hander makes his major league debut for the Phillies. A third-round draft pick in 2011, Morgan has gone 0-6 with a 4.74 ERA in 13 starts for Triple-A Lehigh Valley this season. He will start in place of Jerome Williams, who is on the 15-day disabled list with a left hamstring strain.

On Saturday, Randal Grichuk hit a pair of home runs and drove in four in a 10-1 final. Jason Heyward drove in a pair of runs, while John Lackey (6-4) allowed a run on five hits with a pair of walks and three strikeouts over seven innings for the Cardinals, who have won seven of their last nine games.

"They need to just realize you stick with it, you're going to have big days," Cardinals manager Mike Matheny said. "It does become contagious at some point, and these are a couple of good days for our offense."

Cody Asche drove in the only run of the game for the Phillies, who have lost 11 of their past 12. Aaron Harang (4-9) was tagged for four runs on seven hits in six innings and has lost a career-high six straight starts.

"You just hope you go out there and grind and keep going," Harang said. "It's a tough situation to be in."

The Cardinals have won five in a row over the Phillies.
