MLB Note - Houston Astros Altuve, Jose
Jul 26, 2017 - 10:34 AM 2B Jose Altuve continued his scorching July on Tuesday night, extending his hitting streak to 17 games with a double to right in the sixth inning against the Phillies. He went 1-of-4 in the game, lowering his batting average in July to .494 (39-of-79). He's trying to become just the eighth player in MLB history to hit .500 in at least 80 plate appearances in a month -- Joe Jackson did it twice, in 1913 and 1916 -- and the first since Detroit's Ivan Rodriguez hit .500 in June 2004. Rodriguez and Colorado's Todd Helton (.512 in May 2000) are the only two to have accomplished the feat since 1927.No one has shouted yet.
