MLB Note - Boston Red Sox Nunez, Eduardo
Jul 27, 2017 - 1:56 AM INF Eduardo Nunez was acquired late Tuesday night from the San Francisco Giants in exchange for minor-league RHPs Shaun Anderson and Gregory Santos. "It's exciting," Nunez told reporters in San Francisco. "You're going to go (play) for a championship. That's why we're here. That's the focus right now." The 30-year-old hit .308 in 76 games for the Giants with four home runs, 31 RBIs and a team-high 17 stolen bases. Red Sox manager John Farrell said Nunez won't be a backup in Boston. "He's going to get a high number of at-bats, that's why we acquired him," Farrell told reporters. "This is someone who's swinging the bat very well right now." To make room on the 40-man roster for Nunez, Boston designated LHP Luis Ysla for assignment. No one has shouted yet.
