MLB Note - Seattle Mariners Vieira, Thyago

Aug 15, 2017 - 9:12 AM RHP Thyago Vieira was recalled from Triple-A Tacoma. "Big Sweat is in the house," Mariners manager Scott Servais said, referring to the nickname Vieira was given in spring training for his penchant for perspiration. "It's quite a journey where he's come from." Vieira, 24, became the fourth Brazilian-born player ever in the major leagues, and the second pitcher, when he made his debut in the ninth inning. Baltimore's Chris Davis lined Vieira's first pitch right back at the pitcher, but he snared it in front of his face. The 98 mph fastball was also clocked at 98 mph off the bat. Vieira wound up pitching a perfect inning with one strikeout.
