Pirates place OF Polanco on DL

Aug 15, 2017 - 9:55 PM The Pittsburgh Pirates placed outfielder Gregory Polanco on the 10-day disabled list with a left hamstring strain, the team announced Tuesday.

Polanco will be making his third stint on the disabled list this season. The most recent move is retroactive to Sunday.

Catcher Elias Diaz was recalled from Triple-A Indianapolis to replace Polanco, who sustained his injury during Saturday's 7-2 loss to the Toronto Blue Jays.

Polanco, 25, is batting .255 with 10 homers and 32 RBIs in 91 games this season.

Diaz is hitting .266 with two homers and 27 RBIs in 57 games with Indianapolis. The 26-year-old also batted .266 and had one homer and 14 RBIs during 30 games with the Pirates this season.
