MLB Note - Detroit Tigers Verlander, Justin
Aug 16, 2017 - 11:09 AM RHP Justin Verlander (8-8), who was riding a streak of three straight victories, took the loss in the Tigers' 10-4 defeat to Texas on Tuesday. Verlander gave up five runs on eight hits and no walks. He struck out eight. He entered with a streak of seven consecutive starts allowing three or fewer runs. A 31-pitch, four-run fourth inning, in which he gave up back-to-back homers to Joey Gallo and Mike Napoli, on a hot summer night took a toll on him. "One bad inning. Down here, long innings are what gets you," Verlander said. "You have to focus a little more, honestly."No one has shouted yet.
