MLB Note - Oakland Athletics Moll, Sam
Aug 17, 2017 - 8:56 AM LHP Sam Moll was acquired Wednesday by Oakland from Colorado in exchange for a player to be names later or cash considerations. Moll, who has spent the entire season at Triple-A Albuquerque, was assigned to Triple-A Nashville. He was 3-2 with a 4. 18 in 44 relief appearances for Albuquerque. "I don't know much about him at all, but I do know we need some left-handers," A's manager Bob Melvin said. "We don't really have too many left-handers in our system." The A's traded LHP Sean Doolittle to Washington earlier this season, leaving LHP Daniel Coulombe as the only lefty in Oakland's bullpen. "It's nice to get another left-handed guy, and my guess is at some point in time we're going to see him here," Melvin said of Moll. The Rockies drafted him in the third round in 2013 out of the University of Memphis. He's in his fifth minor league season and has yet to make his major league debut. He has 193 strikeouts and 67 walks in 208 career minor league innings. No one has shouted yet.
