MLB Note - New York Yankees Chapman, Aroldis
Aug 17, 2017 - 8:56 AM LHP Aroldis Chapman remains the Yankees' closer, though he did not pitch Wednesday in the team's 5-3 win over the Mets, and he may get Thursday's series finale off as well. Chapman has struggled in his past three appearances, during which he recorded two saves and absorbed a blown save while allowing five runs on three hits and four walks over 3 1/3 innings. Manager Joe Girardi said Wednesday afternoon that Chapman would be evaluated by team doctors, though he didn't think anything was physically wrong with or that the closer needed an MRI. Girardi said he would like to stay away from Chapman on Thursday if possible. Chapman is 4-2 with a 3.89 ERA and 16 saves in 37 games this season. No one has shouted yet.
