MLB Note - Tampa Bay Rays Archer, Chris
Aug 18, 2017 - 8:02 AM RHP Chris Archer reached 1,000 career strikeouts Thursday when he whiffed Toronto Blue Jays C Miguel Montero in the fourth inning. He became the ninth pitcher in major league history to reach that plateau after 154 games. He joins RHP James Shields (1,250) and LHP David Price (1.065) as the only pitchers to reach 1,000 strikeouts with the Rays. He finished the game with 10 strikeouts and no walks, allowing three runs on five hits. He did not factor in the decision in the 5-3 loss to Toronto. "I might feel a little bit better about it when we get back to Tampa, or tomorrow," Archer said about strikeout No. 1,000. "Right now, it's irrelevant."No one has shouted yet.
