Nerve issue lands Royals RHP Feliz on DL

Aug 20, 2017 - 12:09 AM The Kansas City Royals placed right-handed pitcher Neftali Feliz on the disabled list on Saturday because of right ulnar nerve palsy.

His DL stint is retroactive to Aug. 14, making him eligible to return on Aug. 24.

In a corresponding move, the Royals recalled left-handed pitcher Eric Skoglund from Triple-A Omaha before Saturday's game against the Cleveland Indians.

Feliz signed a one-year, $5.35 million deal with the Milwaukee Brewers in the offseason, but was released on June 19 after he went 1-5 with a 6.00 ERA, 21 strikeouts and 15 walks in 27 innings, while allowing eight home runs.

The Royals signed him on June 22, and he is 1-0 with a 4.74 ERA for Kansas City. He last pitched on Aug. 13, when he went one inning without allowing a run or a hit.

Skoglund is 1-1 with a 5.59 ERA in three starts with the Royals this season.

He has a 4-5 record and a 4.07 ERA in 20 starts this year for the Storm Chasers, which includes going 2-1 with a 3.33 ERA since being optioned to Omaha on July 3.

Skoglund made his major league debut on May 30 against the Detroit Tigers, throwing 6 1/3 shutout innings in a 1-0 victory.
