MLB Note - New York Mets Familia, Jeurys
Aug 20, 2017 - 8:19 AM RHP Jeurys Familia (blood clot in right shoulder) made his second rehab appearance Saturday night, when he struck out three in a scoreless inning for Single-A St. Lucie. Familia threw 25 pitches, including 13 for strikes. Manager Terry Collins said this week he wants Familia to show he can throw at least 30 pitches in an outing, so the elevated pitch count Saturday is an indication Familia could return to the Mets within the next week. Familia, who has struck out four batters over two scoreless innings between St. Lucie and the rookie-level Gulf Coast League Mets, underwent surgery May 12, the same day he was placed on the 10-day disabled list (retroactive to May 11). He is 1-1 with a 3.86 ERA and three saves in 11 games for the Mets this season. No one has shouted yet.
