MLB Note - Milwaukee Brewers Woodruff, Brandon
Aug 21, 2017 - 7:06 AM RHP Brandon Woodruff was optioned to Triple-A Colorado Springs to clear a roster spot for right-hander Chase Anderson, who was reinstated from the 10-day disabled list. Woodruff started Saturday night and pitched 4 2/3 innings, allowing five hits and one run with three walks and four strikeouts in his 81-pitch outing. Manager Craig Counsell said with two off days this month, the Brewers will not need a fifth starter before September when Woodruff will return to the team. "I think it sends him down knowing he's going to play a part in this going forward in September," said Counsell, referring to Woodruff's good outing Saturday. "And that's what we told him. 'You're going to pitch meaningful innings for us in the month of September.' Nobody wants to go back down, but I think knowing that you're coming back shortly and you're going to play a part hopefully in some big games is something to look forward to, for sure."No one has shouted yet.
