Red Sox agree to deal with RHP Kolb

Jan 23, 2008 - 8:55 PM BOSTON (Ticker) -- The Boston Red Sox on Wednesday agreed to terms with veteran righthander Dan Kolb on a minor league contract for 2008.

Kolb has been invited to spring training with the Red Sox.

Kolb, 32, spent 2007 with the Pittsburgh Pirates organization, appearing in three games with the Pirates with a 9.00 ERA. He spent the rest of the year with Class AAA Indianapolis.

Kolb has a career record of 11-23 with a 4.36 ERA and 73 saves in 290 games with Texas, Milwaukee, Atlanta and Pittsburgh. He was a National League All-Star in 2004, the season when he recorded 39 saves for the Brewers.
