MLB Note - San Diego Padres Solarte, Yangervis
Sep 18, 2017 - 9:25 AM 3B Yangervis Solarte went 2-for-4 with a double and a home run on the one-year anniversary of the death of his wife, Yuliette, 31, from complications due to cancer. Solarte was at Coors Field when she died. "It's tough to put into words, especially today being the 17th (of September) and home run No. 17," Solarte said, "and we were in the same place when I received the worst news of my life. It's really sad to think about, but it's something I have to continue on. This is something she could be happy about, and I have to continue on for my three daughters she left. It's also a reminder of God's strength. This is something I've been thinking about for three or four nights, a lot of time. Things weren't going the way I wanted on the field, and this moment comes together. It's a reminder to be strong and be happy."No one has shouted yet.
