Cardinals recall IF Valera from Triple-A Memphis
Sep 21, 2017 - 4:10 PM The St. Louis Cardinals recalled infielder Breyvic Valera from Triple-A Memphis, the team announced Thursday.Valera, who will be making his second stint in the majors, will join the Cardinals prior to the team's game versus the Cincinnati Reds on Thursday night.
The 25-year-old Venezuelan made his major league debut on Sept. 5 against the San Diego Padres and recorded his first hit two days later with a single. He was optioned to the Redbirds on Sept. 11.
Valera is batting .314 with eight homers and 41 RBIs with the Redbirds this season. He also leads the club in hits (133) and triples (six).
