Blue Jays IF Goins pulls off hidden ball trick vs. Yankees

Sep 23, 2017 - 1:42 AM Toronto Blue Jays shortstop Ryan Goins got a bit creative during Friday's series-opening game against the New York Yankees at Rogers Centre.

Goins caught an unsuspecting Todd Frazier with the hidden-ball trick to end the third inning.

Frazier belted a double to lead off the frame. One out later, Jacoby Ellsbury's deep drive to right field was caught by Jose Bautista, who threw the ball back toward the infield to Goins as he stood near second base.

After pretending to toss the ball to pitcher Marco Estrada, Goins deftly slipped it in his glove and waited to make his move. Presumably assuming that the 29-year-old infielder did just that, Frazier took a step off the bag and Goins promptly made the tag to end the inning.

Goins has flustered the Yankees a bit this season. On May 1, he recorded the first two-run sacrifice fly in Blue Jays' history in New York.
