MLB Note - New York Mets Familia, Jeurys

Sep 23, 2017 - 8:30 AM RHP Jeurys Familia returned to his old role Friday night, when he earned the save by recording the final out of the Mets' 7-6 win over the Nationals. Mets manager Terry Collins started the ninth inning with RHP A.J. Ramos, who has served as the closer since he was acquired from the Miami Marlins on July 28. But Ramos was pulled with runners at the corners and one out for LHP Josh Smoker, who retired left-handed hitting Nationals 1B Adam Lind before Familia entered and struck out CF Victor Robles for his fourth save of the season and his first since May 5. Familia, who had 94 saves the last two seasons, missed more than three months following surgery to repair a blood clot in his right shoulder. The Mets expect Familia to resume closing duties next year, though his performance Friday night could have won him the job for the remainder of this season as well. Familia is 1-2 with a 4.79 ERA in 22 games this season.
