MLB Note - Oakland Athletics Olson, Matt

Sep 23, 2017 - 8:30 AM 1B Matt Olson hit his 24th home run of the season and his sixth in the past seven games Friday night in a 4-1 victory against the Texas Rangers in Oakland. Olson lined a two-run shot to right in the second inning off Rangers RHP Nick Martinez. Olson has six home runs in his past seven games and 13 homers in September, the most in major-league history by a rookie and tied with Jason Giambi for the most in A's history. He hit his 24th homer in just his 57th game this season and 68th of his career. "To say it's a surprise anymore, I'd be lying because you have a good feeling when he's up there every time," A's manager Bob Melvin said. "It's amazing. It really is. He's at a point now where he just has a good feeling every time he goes to the plate." Since 1913, only White Sox 1B Jose Abreu (25) hit more homers in his first 68 games. Dodgers INF/OF Cody Bellinger is tied with Olson on that list with 24.
