MLB Note - Detroit Tigers Jones, JaCoby

Sep 23, 2017 - 8:30 AM CF JaCoby Jones gave Detroit two looks Friday at why the organization is so upbeat about his future. Jones made a spectacular leaping catch steaming into the left-center gap on a ball lined by Minnesota 1B Joe Mauer to end the third inning. "He's a talented, talented center fielder," manager Brad Ausmus said, "and that's a tremendous play, probably one of the better plays all year." Jones led off the Detroit third with a single and went from first to third on a routine soft groundout to third by SS Jose Iglesias, scoring when 2B Ian Kinsler draped a soft single to center. That's the upside. The downside came when Jones took called third strikes in his next two at-bats.
