MLB Note - Oakland Athletics Maxwell, Bruce
Sep 25, 2017 - 8:55 AM C Bruce Maxwell, who on Saturday became the first major league player to kneel for the national anthem, kneeled again Sunday during the anthem, continuing his protest against racial injustice. "I've gotten everything from support to threats," Maxwell said after the Athletics' 8-1 victory against Texas. "I expected it. It's nothing different that I haven't dealt with in my life. The threats that I'm getting are part of the problem. Threats, racial slurs. I've had some people wish I got hurt." Maxwell (concussion) missed his third straight game Sunday but might return to the lineup on Monday against Seattle, A's manager Bob Melvin said. "He's feeling much better today," Melvin said.No one has shouted yet.
