MLB Note - Toronto Blue Jays Anderson, Brett

Sep 25, 2017 - 8:55 AM LHP Brett Anderson hopes to erase his poor start against the Kansas City Royals with his performance Monday against the Boston Red Sox in the opener of a three-game series at Fenway Park. He was so annoyed by his start Wednesday that he shredded his baseball cap in the dugout after he left the game. "I think there are parts of it in the dugout if you guys want souvenirs," Anderson said after the start. He said does not usually snap like that but after what he called one of the better bullpen warmup sessions he has ever had, he allowed seven hits, two walks and eight runs in 1 1/3 innings. He is 1-2 with a 5.17 ERA in five starts with Toronto after being signed after the Chicago Cubs released him. In his first four starts with Toronto, Anderson was 1-1 with a 3.27 ERA. Manager John Gibbons considers him a candidate for a spot on the staff in 2018. "I like him, I think he's pitched very well," Gibbons said. "A game like that you can't figure out. They came out swinging and they didn't miss. Wipe that one away, he's pitched very well for us." In 10 career starts against Boston, he is 5-4 with a 3.32 ERA. He is 2-2 with a 5.54 ERA in five starts at Fenway. He faced Boston in his first start with the Blue Jays, taking the loss despite allowing only one run on six hits with no walks in 5 2/3 innings.
