Red Sox's Betts, Nunez exit with injuries

Sep 26, 2017 - 8:19 PM BOSTON -- Mookie Betts became the second Red Sox player to leave Boston's Monday night game against the Toronto Blue Jays with an injury, exiting with left wrist pain.

Eduardo Nunez, who returned to the Boston lineup Monday after missing 13 games with a right knee injury, came out after aggravating the ailment in his second at-bat.

Betts, 2-for-3 with two RBIs in the game, bent over at first base after an RBI single in the fifth inning but stayed in the game.

Soon after, a member of the training staff was seen checking Betts' left arm in the dugout. When Betts' turn to bat came up in the eighth, he was lifted for pinch hitter Andrew Benintendi, who hit a home run.

Nunez, serving as the designated hitter, doubled on the second pitch he saw in the first inning. However, he crumbled to the ground after fouling a pitch into the air in the third.

He got up after being attended to, attempted to jog and briefly stayed in the game. Nunez then was robbed of a hit on the next pitch by diving Toronto third baseman Josh Donaldson but was replaced by pinch hitter Sam Travis in the fifth inning.
