MLB Note - Colorado Rockies Gonzalez, Carlos

Oct 5, 2017 - 7:03 AM RF Carlos Gonzalez was 2-for-5 with an RBI single in the ninth inning while hitting third in the lineup for the 24th time this season. He hit third 11 times in September after heating up, but before that had not hit third since April 16. "It's a function of Cargo swinging the bat," manager Bud Black said. "And I think that for me, it just looks right. That's how we envisioned it even way back when the season started." Gonzalez will be a free agent this winter, and his future in Colorado remains in doubt. The Rockies signed 1B/OF Ian Desmond to a five-year deal last winter, and he appears to be a possible outfield replacement. "The time and the place right now is focused on this game and winning this game," general manager Jeff Bridich said. "There is a time and a place for all the other business elements and outside the lines type of stuff that comes up in this industry." Gonzalez: "I don't really know what he future holds for me. I am really thankful for all the nine years I have been with this organization."
