Top MLB Betting Odds & Picks for Saturday, April 30 (2022)

Apr 30, 2022 - 2:29 PM

It’s Saturday in April, but there are no games at 1:00 pm ET today. That will be a common theme in the MLB this year and the future. The only time we’re guaranteed a bunch of day’s games is on Sunday. While it stinks waiting until the night for some MLB games, it somewhat helps with betting. The later teams play, the more chance the lineup is how you want it.

Anyway, there are still many games during the afternoon. Just none at 1 pm ET. Here are my best bets for April 30 in the MLB.

CTAs

New York Yankees Run Line (-1.5, -125)

Gerrit Cole struggled in his first few starts of the season. However, in his last start, he broke out against the Guardians, striking out nine in 6.1 innings of work while allowing no runs. That’s the Cole I’m expecting tonight against a weak Royals lineup that has been highly inconsistent to start the season.

On the other hand, Carlos Hernandez will take the mound for the Royals, and he’s allowed at least three runs in every start this season. He’s got a WHIP of 1.79, allowing nearly two hits or walks per inning. That’s a lot of runners in scoring position for the Yankees. I like the Yankees to win this one by a large margin with Cole on the mound.

Bet: Yankees -1.5 (-125 at DraftKings)

Braves Moneyline (-110)

With Dane Dunning on the mound for the Rangers, anything can happen. What I mean by that is that Dunning is very inconsistent. Still, Dunning has allowed at least two runs in every start this season and has given up 22 hits in 18.1 innings of work. The Braves have a .200 ISO and wOBA of .330 with its projected lineup and should have success against Dunning.

Meanwhile, Bryce Elder is going to get the start for the Braves. He’s struggled with extremely high walks but will take on a Rangers lineup with a .086 ISO and wOBA of .250 against righties to start the year. Texas has been awful at the plate. Therefore, I’ll take the team that has the better offense.

Bet: Braves (-110 at DraftKings)

Dodgers -1.5 (-1.5, -150)

With Clayton Kershaw on the mound, the Dodgers should have their game against the Tigers in the bag. Los Angeles will take on Beau Brieske, who has an xFIP of 5.97 with 15% strikeouts and 10% walks. He’s limited teams to a BABIP of .077. But that’s not going to last.

Look for the Dodgers to show off a ton of power in tonight’s game against Brieske with Freddie Freeman, Max Muncy, and Cody Bellinger on home run watch.

Meanwhile, the Tigers have an ISO of .081 against lefties with 24.4% strikeouts this season. The Tigers have walked at a high rate, but Kershaw hasn’t thrown a single walk this season. So good luck with that.

Bet: Dodgers -1.5 (-150 at DraftKings)
